AIT Alliance Gets Leaders Talking in DC. Senator Portman Receives AIM Honor
There were lots of hot topics and even hotter technologies on display in Arlington, Virginia yesterday as the AIT Alliance of AIM North America presented its 2nd Annual AIT in DoD Symposium - Integrating Practice, Technology & Innovation.
More than 100 corporate, academic and government leaders gathered to discuss the latest in automatic identification technology (AIT) and what the future holds. The event was kicked off by keynote speaker Rear Admiral David F. Baucom of the United States Transportation Command (TRANSCOM), who discussed the importance of AIT to the Combatant Commanders and Services in the field, as well as how TRANSCOM has incorporated active and passive technologies into their business processes.

Additionally, executives from Datalogic presented an update on how Big Data is being used to deliver better results and Zebra Technologies introduced Enterprise Asset Intelligence market trends and why it is shaping the future with new opportunities.
The Symposium gave attendees the ability to witness first hand technology demonstrations presented by a wide range of AIT Alliance members, while panelists representing academia and the Department of Defense joined business innovators to discuss how today's AIT technologies and innovations will evolve and be used in the future.
In conjunction with the Symposium, AIT Alliance leaders announced the winner of the 2015 AIM North America Automatic Identification Technology Award in a presentation to this year's recipient, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R) of Ohio. Established in 2013, this award honors a recipient from the government sector that has championed the successful use of AIT within the local, state or national government.
