Neology’s key ISO 18000-6C related patents confirmed by US Patent Office
San Diego, CA, USA, September 22, 2015 –
In 2014, Neology filed a lawsuit in a U.S. District Court against Kapsch TrafficCom USA for infringement of Neology patents. The lawsuit requires Kapsch TrafficCom USA to immediately and permanently stop directly or indirectly making, using, selling or offering for sale, importing or exporting all infringing RFID products including systems, subsystems, readers and tags.
In reaction to the lawsuit, Kapsch attempted to challenge the Neology patents at the US Patent Office (PTO) via an Inter Partes Review. After an initial response from Neology, the PTO now has confirmed the validity of four of the most relevant Neology patents. These patents read on the ISO 18000-6C communication protocol used for tolling applications. The challenge will go forward for the remaining patent claims, but Neology is confident that further claims will be found valid through this process.
