Going through this process has proven invaluable. Vista was already a well-run organization, but we quickly recognized that ISO was going to make us better

Today, Vista IT Group announced that they achieved the ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management Systems issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). To earn this authorization, companies must demonstrate that their products and services persistently meet customer expectations, and they constantly strive to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective use of their internally-generated Quality Management System (QMS). “Pursuing the certification was an obvious choice for us,” said Jeff Stevens, President and CEO of Vista IT Group. “Quality, customer satisfaction, and continual improvement are the cornerstones of who we are at Vista.”

“Going through this process has proven invaluable. Vista was already a well-run organization, but we quickly recognized that ISO was going to make us better,” said Stevens. “We’ve been in business for more than 30 years, so of course we had processes in place. But they were not necessarily written and evaluated on a regular basis. When we began evaluating these processes and applying ISO standards, we saw immediate and positive results.”

It can take years to become ISO certified, but Vista was able to earn the ISO 9001:2015 in less than six months. “I don’t think anyone truly understood the work and dedication that was involved in earning this certification until we were well into the trenches,” said Mitchell Vruggink, Presales Engineer and ISO Management Lead. “It wasn’t easy, but it was well worth it.”

“Getting ISO certified was a big deal for us,” said Stevens. “Not only did it require a huge commitment from the organization, but it also led us to take a hard look at ourselves. We had to take a step back from the day-to-day details so that we could look ahead and figure out what we wanted the business to look like.”

“The success of an initiative like this requires buy-in from the top down. It’s crucial to have leadership invested because earning the ISO 9001:2015 certification isn’t a one-and-done sort of thing; it’s a long-term commitment,” explained Vruggink. ISO requires companies to recertify every time an updated set of standards are released (about every seven years) as well as maintain their certification through annual audits.
