SYNNEX Corporation President Peter Larocque Honored with Order of the Palmetto Award
GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a leading business process services company, today announced that Peter Larocque, President, North American Technology Solutions, was presented with the Order of the Palmetto Award, South Carolina's highest civilian honor, during a check presentation event yesterday for the company's fundraising initiative, SYNNEX Share the Magic. The Order of the Palmetto is awarded to South Carolina citizens for extraordinary lifetime service and achievements of national or statewide significance.
"I am honored to receive the Order of the Palmetto Award," said Larocque. "In addition to making a significant economic impact in South Carolina, my team and I feel fortunate to have made a positive impact on the lives of children and families in need. Each year, we aim to do more, and I look forward to continuing to raise the bar for South Carolina."
"This is a state with a big heart, and I think Peter Larocque has demonstrated that again and again," McMaster told the audience in acknowledgement of Larocque's many years of community service.
McMaster also underscored the importance of Larocque's decision to increase community impact through the creation of SYNNEX Share the Magic, saying, "One thing Larocque recognizes is there will never be enough money in government to do all that needs to be done, so we have to have private organizations and individuals that are willing to step up to the plate."
Larocque has celebrated more than 33 years with SYNNEX. He moved to Greenville in 1996 and led the opening of the company's North American distribution headquarters in 2003. During his time overseeing SYNNEX' North American distribution business, he has worked tirelessly to make a significant impact both economically and in the lives of countless children and their families.
Under Larocque's leadership, SYNNEX has been selected as one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina for the past seven years. As a result of the efforts of Larocque and his leadership team, SYNNEX' Greenville campus added 40,000 square feet in 2016 and approximately 150 knowledge-based, IT-related jobs. Larocque also personally supports fundraising efforts through SYNNEX' Community Involvement Committee, which generates funding for non-profits in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Larocque previously served on the board of Make-A-Wish South Carolina, which grants the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. In 2011, Larocque founded SYNNEX Share the Magic. The annual fundraiser has raised more than $8.5 million for South Carolina children and their families — making it one of the largest charity initiatives in the state. In 2018, the SYNNEX Canada team will bring SYNNEX Share the Magic to Toronto to benefit Kids Help Phone and FIRST Robotics Canada.
Larocque has received several recognitions for his passionate and impactful community engagement. These include the Community Foundation and Community Journals Philanthropic Spirit Award for charitable giving in the Upstate; and the 2016 Eva P. Hunt Visionary Award by A Child's Haven. He has also been named one of Greenville Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential.
