Dynamsoft Barcode Reader SDK Update Improves Blurred Barcode Decoding Performance
March 5, 2019 – Dynamsoft has released a new version of its Barcode Reader Software Development Kit with several new updates that include improved performance for decoding blurred or fuzzy barcodes and average barcode read speed increases of 5-10 percent.
Dynamsoft Barcode Reader v6.5 SDK has significantly improved the success rate for decoding blurred PDF417 barcodes. In addition, recognition rates were also significantly improved for fuzzy 1D, QR and DataMatrix barcodes. This helps organizations reduce workflow disruptions that would normally be caused by barcode reading obstacles. The updated decoding algorithm for the SDK also has reduced misreading rates for 1D barcodes and Aztec barcodes.
These improvements come soon after Dynamsoft made available a JavaScript API Edition, based on WebAssembly, to enable cross-browser and cross-platform online barcode scanning. That December update enabled developers with new conveniences for users. Users can scan barcodes in real-time from a browser using their smartphone without requiring an app download. There’s also no need to capture an image and send it to a server for reading. This saves bandwidth and improves efficiency. In many cases, businesses use a browser-based system for pre-defined workflows. So, the JavaScript web API from the SDK will integrate easily into such workflows.
Dynamsoft Barcode Reader SDK enables application developers to efficiently embed barcode reading functionality to their web, desktop and mobile applications using just a few lines of code. This saves months of additional work in coding from scratch, in addition to the expense of doing so. With the SDK, end users can decode barcodes from various image file formats (BMP, JPG, PNG, PDF and TIFF). This includes from device-independent bitmap (DIB) formats which can be obtained from cameras or scanners.
Supported developer platforms include Windows (C, C++, .NET, ActiveX, JavaScript), Linux (C/C++), iOS (Objective-C), and Android (Java). Supported 1D barcodes (linear barcodes) include Code 39, Code 128, Code 93, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E. Supported 2D barcodes include QR code, DataMatrix, PDF417, and Aztec code. There are also Mac and Raspberry Pi editions available as Labs projects.
