“We’re excited about the opportunity to join the prestigious STEX25 program and be a part of the growing MIT entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Ophir Gaathon, CEO and Co-founder, DUST Identity.

DUST Identity, pioneers of the world’s first diamond unclonable security tag, today announced it is part of the 2019 MIT Startup Exchange STEX25. STEX25 is a startup accelerator within the MIT Startup Exchange, featuring 25 “industry ready” startups that are poised for significant growth and have proven themselves exceptional with early use cases, clients, demos or partnerships. DUST Identity was one of seven new startups invited to join the prestigious group in 2019.

In November 2018, DUST Identity emerged from stealth announcing $2.3 million in seed funding led by Kleiner Perkins, with participation from New Science Ventures, Angular Ventures, and Castle Island Ventures. Since then, the company has accelerated the research and development of its advanced, proprietary technology, while simultaneously accelerating business development opportunities and rolling out a half dozen proofs of concepts with global organizations.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to join the prestigious STEX25 program and be a part of the growing MIT entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Ophir Gaathon, CEO and Co-founder, DUST Identity. “MIT Startup Exchange offers an incredible opportunity for MIT-connected startups and global corporations to work together to advance innovation and technology across all sectors.”

DUST Identity offers the first-ever unclonable, and uncompromisable security tracking solution for hardware authentication. The startup, born at MIT, developed its core technology under a DARPA funded program into a commercial product and enterprise solution for modern supply-chain security and manufacturing. DUST Identity was founded by Ophir Gaathon, PhD, Jonathan Hodges, PhD, and Dirk Englund, PhD, and its technology was developed to address a key pain point for businesses experiencing new vulnerabilities and security disruptions as their global supply chains became more complex and dynamic.

“STEX25 startups are exceptional in the strength of their technology, and are ready to create great value together with many of our corporate members. We expect STEX25 startups to make significant impact,” said Marcus Dahllof, Program Director, MIT Startup Exchange. “DUST Identity has all of the qualifications we look for in a startup, and we are excited to support them as they modernize supply chain security and help enterprises and governments prevent hardware tampering and data breaches.”

Startups are nominated for MIT STEX25 by leading members of MIT’s innovation ecosystem including the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation, the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, the Venture Mentoring Service, and MIT departments and labs.
