Customer-Responsive Inventory Visibility Possible with New Retail IoT Platform at #NRF17

Vision Fitting RoomFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A deluge of retail technology has created enormous opportunities for retailers, but has not solved the issue of siloed technology systems. To address this issue, IoT solution provider SATO Global Solutions will launch two customer-responsive applications at the NRF Big Show in New York.

At SATO Global Solutions Booth 3181, retailers can test out the first cloud-based IoT platform that leverages shared data to improve inventory accuracy and visibility, product on-shelf availability, sales associate efficiency and the retail customer experience.

This solution from SATO Global Solutions (as part of the Acuitas Digital Alliance, co-founded by SATO Global Solutions) is the Vision Retail Platform. It seamlessly connects RFID tags, sensors, gateways and the cloud to deliver actionable insights across retail applications when and where data is needed within the store.

The platform allows retailers to respond to customers’ actions promptly and wisely. It recognizes product movement prompted by customer actions and generates real-time inventory visibility while providing insight into customer preferences.

As part of the Vision Retail Platform, the Sales Associate Application empowers employees with real-time visibility into inventory information, including product movement. For example, if a customer picks up a shirt, carries it elsewhere in the store, and then abandons it for another product, a sales associate will be notified of the item’s location, reducing misplaced inventory and increasing workforce efficiency. Additionally, if the last on-display garment of a particular style or size is sold, the application will notify a sales associate in real time. This enables retailers to replenish shelves with inventory immediately, rather than waiting until the end of the day for a stock check.

The Smart Fitting Room Application gives shoppers access to in-stock information, optional colors and sizes, and a connection point to the sales associate. When integrated with the Sales Associate Application, the Smart Fitting Room Application enables retailers to respond to customer requests from the fitting room, offering concierge-style personal service to shoppers and enhancing the in-store experience while influencing purchasing decisions.

“Sales Associate and Smart Fitting Room are the two strategic applications initially available on the Vision Retail Platform, which integrates and shares data to support multiple tasks. The platform is expandable and sustainable. Additional applications will be added to help retailers meet ever-changing consumer expectations and seize opportunities driven by 'in-the-moment' shopping behaviors,” said Goro Yumiba, chairman and CEO of SATO Global Solutions.

“Being part of the Acuitas Digital Alliance was beneficial as we developed the platform. It allowed us to leverage the deep knowledge and wisdom of other Acuitas members who have served the industry for a long time. We look forward to pursuing new solutions with Acuitas members,” Yumiba added.

SATO will be joined at NRF by fellow members of the Acuitas Digital Alliance, like-minded technology innovators determined to bring the full benefits of the new digital era across the entire retail supply chain. Launched in January 2016, the Acuitas Digital Alliance members are BTIntelRetailNextNexGen PackagingSATO Global Solutions and Valmarc Corporation.
