RFID Company announces patent license with Florida DOT

San Diego (CA, USA), February 12, 2015 – Neology, a subsidiary of RFID industry pacesetter SMARTRAC Technology Group, announced today a patent license agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, through its Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise organization.

The agreement grants Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) a license to certain patent rights owned by Neology for specified licensed products that conform to the ISO 18000-6C standard in the implementation, maintenance and operation of any transportation system in and for the state of Florida. FTE will also have the right to use the patented technology in its Florida Back Office System to support transportation systems outside the state of Florida.

The license will support FTE’s efforts towards national interoperability utilizing the 18000-6C protocol for toll systems. Further, the license will expand 18000-6C technology for use in parking and railway applications, Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) systems, Electronic Vehicle Registration (EVR) systems, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) where the Florida Department of Transportation deems appropriate. Florida joins the states of Washington, Colorado, Utah and Georgia in their adoption and implementation of the ISO 18000-6C standard.

“We are very excited to announce this agreement with FTE, which underpins our commitment to provide a pathway to interoperability. We believe our technology market leadership in RFID will encourage other state agencies to take a similar strategic decision to FTE,” said Francisco Martinez, CEO of Neology.
