Internet-Controlled Cars are Coming Faster Than We Think

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) September 08, 2014

Futurist Jason Hope has made a successful career out of his tech predictions, and he is now predicting that the Internet of Things is going to be the wave of the future of technology.

The Internet of Things refers to the integration of technology and, more specifically, the Internet into daily life and the things people use on a daily basis. While the Internet of Things is already starting to happen, Hope predicts that by 2025, it will be mainstream. "This phenomenon is almost as exciting as the 'dot com' era we saw in the late 90s," he claims, "except now we have the tech and the visionaries to make it reality."

The Internet of Things can already be seen in the popular FitBit device. This device tracks a person's physical activity and sleeping habits, and then connects to the smartphone or computer over the Internet to track eating and activity habits. This then provides the user with personal recommendations to help reach personal fitness and health goals.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, according to Hope. He predicts that the future consumer will be able to control a car, major kitchen appliances and even parts of the home with an Internet-connected device.

Mr. Hope is not the only one who predicts this rising Internet of Things. A May 2014 study from the Pew Research Internet Project[1] interviewed 1,606 tech experts, asking about this phenomenon. A full 83 percent of the respondents stated that they believed that the Internet of Things would have "widespread and beneficial effects" on the everyday lives of the public by 2025.

According to an interview with Examiner.com[2], Hope believes that the 2025 goal is actually quite conservative. "The demand is there for the technology," he states. Also, "Technology is advancing at unprecedented rates," with "no signs of slowing down."

Should his predictions be true, people can easily expect using devices to control much more of their day-to-day life in the near future.
