Xtreme RFID and Vizinex RFID Launch New Tag For Harsh Env

Xtreme RFID and Vizinex RFID Launch the Newest Product in their Allied Series: RFID Tags for Harsh Environments

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 8, 2014 Xtreme RFID, a custom manufacturer of one-piece, fully encapsulated RFID tags for asset tracking, today announced its recent partnership with Vizinex RFID has produced the second product in their growing series of RFID tags for harsh industrial environments, the Allied Series VX-Mid™ HT. This mount-on metal RFID tag is designed for high temperature applications and offers a mid-range read at more than 25 feet. The VX-Mid HT combines Vizinex’s exclusive ViziCore™ RFID tag technology, Xtreme’s reliable, robust and proprietary plastic injection molding process and the new Fortron ICE polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) material from Celanese Corporation.

Celanese’s Fortron PPS is a semi-crystalline polymer that features: exceptional high temperature performance to temperatures up to 240 degrees Celsius (464 degrees Fahrenheit); outstanding resistance to fuels, oils and solvents; excellent hardness, stiffness and dimensional stability; and is inherently flame-resistant.

This new material has quickly enabled expansion of the Allied Series product line, an encapsulated RFID tag partnership between Xtreme and Vizinex announced in January 2014, building on the existing VX-Mid RFID tag engineered for yard management, returnable transport items, and other industrial environments. With the Allied Series’ robust encapsulation reaching the highest ingress protection available (IP68) the RFID industry is ready to take on the harshest high temperature application. The Allied Series tags will be featured at Xtreme RFID’s Booth 101 during RFID Journal LIVE! 2014 from April 8 to 10 in Orlando, Fla.

“Our newest rugged RFID tag ensures a read survivability in harsh environments, resisting such elements as high pressures, extreme temperatures and chemicals” said Mike Lewis, business unit leader of Xtreme RFID, a Cascade Engineering company.

The VX-Mid HT is the ideal RFID solution for:

  • Oil and gas environments where assets such as drill bits, collars, borehole liners, etc. spend thousands of hours underground, at temperatures up to 464 degrees Fahrenheit and pressures up to 30,000 psi
  • Medical applications where sterilization processes such as autoclaving are utilized
  • Tools for use in industrial autoclave and high temperature fabrication operations

Production parts will be available in April 2014. For more information or for samples, contact Tim Hoffman at Xtreme RFID at 630.258.8646 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
