Vodafone Launches Mobile Wallet Powered by CorFire®

London, UK (PRWEB) December 02, 2013

CorFire, the mobile commerce business of SK C&C and an industry leader in mobile commerce technology, along with Vodafone Group, today announced the commercial launch of the Vodafone Wallet in Spain, with Vodafone planning to deploy the mobile wallet across its entire European footprint.

Powered by the same CorFire mCommerce platform used worldwide by key merchants, mobile operators, transit authorities and financial institutions; the Vodafone Wallet will include both Near Field Communication (NFC) and non-NFC technology. Built on the CorFire CorPAY™ platform and its scalable client/server architecture, the Vodafone Wallet will offer customers data security and access to market proven, as well as, innovative, future-forward mCommerce services. The CorFire CorTSM™ portion of the platform will facilitate over-the-air (OTA) provisioning of the Vodafone Visa® Stored Value Accounts through its agreement with Wirecard. As a result, Vodafone customers in Spain can now take advantage of the convenience of contactless purchases at retailers, redeem offers and transit, and in the future use digital loyalty cards right from their smartphones.

“The new Vodafone Wallet will give our customers a convenient, simple and secure way of managing a range of everyday transactions with their smartphone,” said Christian Wirtz, mCommerce Director, Vodafone. “CoreFire’s mCommerce experience and execution was central in helping us to meet our aggressive implementation schedule.”

CorFire’s scalable m-Commerce technology allows mobile network operators to deploy mobile wallets with innovative features such as value-added offers, mobile gifting, closed-loop payments, virtual loyalty cards, as well as deployment of features that anticipate consumer usage of mCommerce services. This proven platform speeds the onboarding of mobile commerce services across financial institutions, merchants, transit authorities, ticketing agencies and voucher providers.

“It’s a great honor to be a core technology in one of the largest mobile wallet deployments in history,” said Dr. Jae Chung, President and CEO of CorFire. “The Vodafone Wallet represents a milestone for the mCommerce industry and reinforces CorFire’s leadership in bringing commercial scale mCommerce solutions to market.”
