IDTech Running Two Shows In Europe

Two major expos produced by IDTechEx will be held in tandem in April 2013 at the
Internationales Congress Centrum in Berlin. Wireless Sensor Networks & RTLS Europe dates
are April 16 through 19, and Energy Harvesting & Storage Europe are April 17 and 18. This is
the company’s fifth year producing these innovative and informative conferences.

The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Real Time Locating Systems (RTLS) expo serves as
both a showcase and networking opportunity. The technologies are designed to make buildings
more energy efficiency and reduce cost and improve safety. On tap are the latest developments
in wireless technologies and their impact on a range of verticals from civil infrastructure to the
creation of smart cities. The first day of the event is dedicated to end users who will discuss their
needs and experiences with the technology, followed by a day covering all the technologies.

According to the IDTechX conference brochure, attendees will have a first-hand opportunity
to explore case studies from WSN/RTLS adoptions in industry, healthcare, consumer, military,
aerospace and other applications; assess wireless/mesh ZigBee, 6lowPan, Wireless Hart and
other protocols as well as RTLS including Wi-Fi, Ultra Wide Band (UWB), ultra sound, UHF
and other systems. Additional topics cover energy harvesting powered wireless sensors; passive
RFID sensors, ultra low power electronics; and system architectures, scaling, implementation
challenges.

Expert opinions will be given by end users, industry thought-leaders and researchers; giving
you a comprehensive view of the industries and independent views of the Masterclasses led by
IDTechEx analysts who are all leaders in their fields.

The Energy Harvesting & Storage event provides insight into technologies, case studies and
markets for energy harvesting, ranging from consumer electronics and sensors to vehicles,
building and industrial automation.

Seminar topics focus on end users from a range of markets who will share their needs and
experiences, with specific attention to ROI. Technology options will also be featured, from
energy harvester choices, energy storage options, through to the latest in low power electronics
and wireless sensors and related technologies such as thin film harvesters and supercapacitors.
All are presented with an analytical, commercial outlook, taking into account market
requirements, competitive technologies and development roadmaps.

Application-focused sessions cover the opportunity of energy harvesting in the built
environment, showing how it is enabling smart – and more energy efficient – buildings and smart
cities, merging with the Internet of Things (IoT) and M2M evolution. Sessions also focus on
industrial wireless monitoring, transportation and consumer electronics.

The event assesses the merits of the multiple energy harvesting technologies including
thermoelectric, piezoelectric, photovoltaic, electromagnetic, wireless power transfer and multi
modal versions; thin film batteries and supercapacitors; new manufacturing techniques, ultra low
power electronics and power management; and wireless sensor technologies including RFID,
RTLS and WSN at different protocols.

More than 120 exhibitors will be on hand during the Wireless Sensor Networks & RTLS and
the Energy Harvesting & Storage events to showcase the current state of the technologies. For
