coffee cupI hope you won't mind if I step out in front of the press release for just a minute. As the new Managing Editor, I'd like to greet the readers of The Bar Code News and invite you to contact me with news or information that you think might be useful. I've tried to get a feel for the industry writing for the website, but hope to gain even more with your help. So on with the show . . .

The Bar Code News, known as the "Go-to Site for Everything Barcode," introduces Sally Jones as the new managing editor. Taking the helm as of May 21, 2012, Jones replaces Erin Thayer, who will continue as managing editor of The Point of Sale News, a sister publication.

“Sally has written numerous articles for both The Bar Code News and The Point of Sale News over the last year and has been active in researching trends and companies in this space," said Craig Aberle, Publisher and Owner of The Bar Code News. "She is going to be an excellent force for adding value to the industry.“

A freelance business writer for the past three years, Jones also works with both B2B and B2C companies, creating marketing communications collateral. She enjoys writing case studies and persuasive white papers, and learning about new technology.

"It's an exciting time to be involved with the bar code industry, especially with developments in radio frequency identification and the mobile space," said Jones. "I'm looking forward to meeting the needs of readers from many different backgrounds."

Providing timely and in depth coverage of industry news and developments in 1D and 2D barcode applications and bar code equipment, RFID technology, mobile bar codes and smart phone apps, The Bar Code News is read by industry insiders, business "influencers," and many people searching for a bar code solution.

“The Bar Code News and The Point of Sale News together attracted over 250,000 visits in the first quarter of 2012," said Aberle. “I am very pleased that these publications are continuing to expand and offer new resources for our viewers.”
