Civic Action and RFID. Let's get vocal!

Can I interest you in a little local civic action that, if successful, could lower your taxes and make your community a little greener?

This article on the use of RFID technology profiled a community that installed RFID chips to monitor recycling activity and as a result, increased recycling and lowered waste disposal costs.  A 100% ROI (return on investment) seems likely with in a year.

What if hundreds of communities all around the wordl did the same thing?   What if?   Here is a little request for YOU to take a stand and invest 5 minutes of your time and email your local mayor, city council, municipal services department or even a local newspaper to let them know about how another city is saving money and improving its environmental footprint at the same time.

Here is the email I have sent to my 7 local commissioners in Sarasota County:

  Dear Commissioners,

This article shows how one city is saving money and increasing recycling at the same time.  It is very simple and easy to implement and should pay for itself in one year or less.

City Recycling Increases 260% due to RFID Tracking

Please take a look and think about doing this in our community.

Sincerely,

Craig Aberle

Taxpayer and resident
