SocketScan 10 Released for Android
Versatile barcode scanning software tool, SocketScan™ 10, is being released for Google Android. It enables developers to add fast and accurate barcode scanning capabilities to smartphones, tablets, notebook and desktop applications. All v3 models of the Socket Bluetooth® Cordless Hand Scanner™ (CHS) Series 7 portable 2D and 1D barcode scanner are compatible.
"Since we announced the beta version of SocketScan 10 for Android in December, we've already seen adoption occur for a variety of applications and industries including asset tracking apps in warehousing and logistics, and computer technology," said Samantha Chu, data collection product manager at Socket Mobile.
Socket Mobile has been in the Automatic Identification and Data Capture market for over 18 years. The company offers a family of handheld computers and an extensive portfolio of AIDC peripherals designed specifically for business mobility deployments and productivity increases. The company also offers OEM solutions for the mobile device market.
"Having a fast, compact and reliable Bluetooth barcode scanner that can connect to an Android device is very appealing to our customer-base with one of the main benefits being increased scanning speed as compared to using a smartphone scanning app that utilizes a built-in camera," said Chris Madison, manager at MediaScouter LLC, developers of the Pocket Profit application for Android, which provides book and other media sellers live Amazon pricing and buyer demand for items being considered for resale purchase. "We've been recommending Socket barcode scanners for Windows devices for a long time, and now we're happy to point our customers to a low-cost, easy-to-use Socket barcode scanner for their Android."
Socket Mobile offers a developer program, the SocketScan Developer Program, with optional compensation designed to reward developers who choose to integrate support for the CHS products into their applications and recommend the CHS for use with their software.
You can download the beta keyboard wedge version of SocketScan 10 software for Google Android for free on the Socket Mobile Web site.
