Hot Cars and Cool Barcodes

NYIAS and Scanbuy QR CodesAnother big event utilizes QR codes to simplify ticketing. The New York International Automobile Show (April 22 to May 1) has teamed up with Scanbuy, Inc., a global leader in mobile barcode solutions to make buying tickets to the 2011 Show even easier. The 2D barcodes, or QR Codes, will appear in NYIAS printed collateral, advertising and marketing materials from billboards and commuter transit to magazine and online advertisements. People can scan the barcodes from their camera phones to be instantly re-directed to www.autoshowny.com where they can purchase tickets or receive valuable interactive information about the Show.

The 2011 New York International Auto Show will unveil an extensive collection of the most technologically advanced vehicles on more than four floors of displays.

"Developing digitally interactive ways to communicate with the public about the excitement of the Show is really important and with ScanLife's impressive bar code technology we are taking this commitment to the next level," said show director Candida Romanelli, "We will incorporate the codes into our Show program to give consumers the ability to receive limitless additional information in the palm of their hands about the vehicles featured in the full-color 144-page publication," she continued.

"We are thrilled to see the New York Auto Show embrace the latest in mobile technology to give visitors the latest from the world of automobiles.  ScanLife gives people immediate access to content right from their phone, and this should really elevate the entire Auto Show experience." said Mike Wehrs, president of Scanbuy, Inc.

With the rapid growth in mobile barcode scanning in recent months, consumers are quickly adopting this innovative technology.  Last year, NYIAS was the first auto show to offer an app, this year the Show is one of the first to fully embrace 2D bar codes. The ScanLife code reader can be easily downloaded at www.getscanlife.com from the mobile browser.
