Hermes Named Logistics “Service Champion” for the Fourth Year in a Row

Chicago, December 10, 2015 – Hermes, operator of the largest business-to-consumer (B2C) parcel shop network in Europe, has once again been deemed a logistics “Service Champion” in the parcel services category by daily paper Die Welt and consulting firm ServiceValue. It is the fourth consecutive year in which Hermes has been rated first in parcel customer service.

Since 2011, contest organizers have conducted an annual cross-industry analysis to evaluate logistics providers. They evaluated more than 1,900 companies from 233 different industries and reviewed over 1.5 million customer assessments. Of the nine parcel services firms tested, Hermes came out on top. This finding might be attributable to what Hermes characterizes as “a service offense” in the national parcel shipment industry. Today, many of Hermes’ 14,000 parcel shops are open on weekends, late into the evening and 24 hours per day. In Hamburg, Hermes has even opened parcel shops inside the subway network for customer convenience. In addition, Hermes offers free parcel tracking, allows customers to create shipping labels via smartphone or tablet, and boasts a first-time delivery rate of 96.3 percent.

Frank Rausch, CEO of Hermes Logistics Group Germany, said, “Being named the industry champion for the fourth consecutive time is a great sign of approval of the daily work performed by many thousands of our employees. I want to thank them for that. I also want to thank all of our postmen, contractual partners and parcel shop operators who make sure that a vast number of parcels travel safely and reliably from point A to point B every day. These partners are a fundamental part of the success we have today.”

With this fourth industry victory, Hermes continues its streak of success in independent tests and customer surveys. Earlier in 2015, Hermes was chosen as the “cost-benefit champion” by YouGov, a market research institute; the “shipping handling” champion by Stiftung Warentest, a German consumer organization involved in comparing goods and services; and “Customer Favorite 2015” by Focus magazine, yielding Hermes a “Gold” rating.
