NanoThings’ patent pending NanoTags are the world’s first and only Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) enabled disposable environmental sensors. Thinner than a credit card and powered by ultra-thin, non-toxic batteries, NanoTags are bridging the gap between Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and cellular-based asset trackers. Combining the affordability and a small form factor of NanoThings’ NanoTags with ubiquitous long range LoRaWAN™ network connectivity from Senet will help accelerate the proliferation of logistics, shipping, asset tracking, cold chain and compliance reporting applications that have yet to be widely adopted due to previously prohibitive hardware, infrastructure and network connectivity costs.
“Industry adoption of existing products has been limited by cost, size or connectivity. Cellular-based products are expensive and power hungry, and RFID has extremely limited read range. Senet’s low power network offers inexpensive connectivity and better propagation than cellular, allowing us to leverage low-cost nanotechnologies to bring a new breed of product to the market,” said Tim Williams, CEO of NanoThings.
Senet’s IoT network connectivity platforms and services allow sensor-based solution companies like NanoThings to ensure interoperability and quality of service in large-scale commercial deployments, and enable solution providers to expand their service offerings beyond traditional areas of operation. For supply chain and logistics operators this means having Low Power Wide Area Network connectivity where and when it is needed, the opportunity for regional expansion and productivity enhancements and cost savings at almost every step in the process.
With advanced features, including a long-lasting battery, extreme durability, temperature, pressure and shock sensing and proprietary “open sensor” functionality that determines when packages are opened, NanoTags can be deployed across existing and new asset tracking and cold chain applications to provide greater visibility and enable smarter decision making based on real-time data.
“Using sensors, tags and other wireless technologies to track assets and goods through the global supply chain is one of the fundamental use cases for the Internet of Things. It is also one of the most impactful, with trillions of economic value to be generated by asset supply, usage and associated IoT data monetization, said Bruce Chatterley, CEO of Senet. “We are looking forward to working with NanoThings to help IoT reach its full potential in these critically important markets.”
About Nanothings
NanoThings’ defining belief is that until now, connected logistics solutions have been overly complex and expensive. It is this philosophy which inspired NanoThings’ minimalist approach to connected hardware. Through countless hours of painstaking innovation, NanoThings’ patent pending NanoTag™ is finally bringing a scalable, cost-effective solution to an eager market. And by integration with LoRa network streaming and services, NanoTags™ offer real-time insights to their sensor data available via NanoThings’ cloud-based platform.
NanoThings is proud to be strategically partnered with Semtech and the LoRa Alliance. Headquartered in the heart of New York City, NanoThings prides itself on pushing the boundaries of IoT innovation and welcomes the opportunity to work with like-minded collaborators.
