HP Enterprise and Intel Collaborate On Solutions for the Internet of Things

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2015) - Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE[1]) today announced an alliance with Intel Corporation to deliver open standards based Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that will enable organizations to quickly gain insights and create value from the growing amount of data collected from devices and sensors. The two companies will also establish three global IoT solutions labs to help customers accelerate their deployment of IoT applications.

The rapid evolution in technology is creating a distributed, digital world where data is everywhere, presenting new opportunities for organizations to capture value. In fact, the International Data Corporation forecasts that the global IoT market will grow to $1.7 trillion in 2020 as more devices, purpose-built platforms and services proliferate and disrupt the IT status quo.1 Organizations will need to harness 100 percent of the data that matters to them, regardless of source, to inform business decisions and drive results.

Compute for Current and Future IoT Applications
The future of IoT is moving intelligence and analysis outside of the traditional data center to the edge. Increased intelligence at the edge of an organization's network will allow faster access to relevant data, require less bandwidth to transport useless data, and ultimately accelerate the time to insight for enterprises.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise's best of breed IoT solutions and IT leadership, combined with the Intel® IoT Platform and product portfolio, will deliver new products that will sit at the edge and collect, process, as well as analyze data from sensors and devices. These new systems are designed to sit outside of the traditional data center and will feature Intel® Core™ i5 and Intel® Atom® processors.

"Achieving business outcomes from IoT can be daunting for organizations today due to the complexity of integrating many heterogeneous systems and technologies across devices, edge, network and data centers," said Alain Andreoli, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Servers. "With Intel, we will deliver new IoT solutions for data analytics and control at the edge of the network, empowering customers to quickly make informed decisions and drive business outcomes."

In addition, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Intel are operating three global IoT Discovery Labs to help organizations experiment and test IoT applications and devices in a secure and confidential environment. The labs will be located in Hewlett Packard Enterprise facilities in Houston, Texas, Grenoble, France and Singapore. To complement the labs, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is also introducing new reference architectures to provide customers with a proven template for delivering IoT solutions.

"The alignment of Intel and Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the latest example of a growing IoT ecosystem forming to fulfill the IoT promise," said Doug Davis, senior vice president, Internet of Things Group, Intel. "Together, we are delivering new IoT solutions to customers, as well as providing the opportunity to test IoT applications in the IoT Discovery Labs, enabling lower integration risks and accelerated time-to-value."
