Total Merchant Services CEO Named to ETA’s Presidential Advisory Council

Woodland Hills, Calif. (January 27, 2014) ─ Joe Kaplan, CEO of Total Merchant Services, a leader in the merchant services business, was appointed to the 2014 Presidential Advisory Council of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the trade association of the global payments industry. Members of the Presidential Advisory Council have a non-voting seat on the ETA Board. Kaplan was appointed to the Presidential Advisory Council by Kim Fitzsimmons, Vice Chairman of Cynergy Data and ETA’s Board Chairman and 2014 President. Kaplan joins five other executive luminaries in this advisory role.

Commenting on his appointment, Kaplan said, "As a member of the President’s Advisory Council, I am excited to be a part of an industry undergoing such dramatic transformation. I look forward to bringing new and exciting ideas to the Council, and fostering business relationships in the payment processing industry.”

Additionally, Paul Rosenfeld, VP and GM of Total Merchant Services who heads the company’s Fanminder division, was appointed to the ETA Mobile Payments Committee for 2014. The Mobile Payments Committee’s mission is to facilitate the global flow of e-commerce, while ensuring that the lives of every consumer touched are enriched and improved. Rosenfeld will fulfill a one-year term.

Kaplan has over 20-years of executive experience in the payment and finance industries. In addition to his CEO role at Total Merchant Services, he is the Founder and Director of Superior  Financial Group, a leading SBA lender. Before joining Total, Kaplan was the founder and CEO of Innovative Merchant Solutions and Innovative Gateway Solutions, which were both sold to Intuit, the makers of QuickBooks and Turbo Tax in 2003. Kaplan worked at Intuit as President

of their Payment Solution’s Division until 2009. Other entrepreneurial accomplishments include Founder and CEO of Superior Bankcard Service, SafeID and Innovative Bank. Kaplan has been recognized and rewarded for his industry leadership. In 2008, he was elected the President of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), and was also awarded Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur Award and ETA’s 2007 Distinguished Payment Professional. Rosenfeld was co-founder and CEO of Fanminder, a pioneering, easy-to-use SaaS designed to help small merchants create, send, and track mobile and social offers to their customers.

The company was bought in December 2012 by Total Merchant Services, which has integrated Fanminder into its portfolio of business solutions. Rosenfeld’s experience includes executive roles at Intuit, American Express, AccountNow, and Digital Insight.
