Scandit Integrates With Epic Rover to Enable Accurate Native iOS Camera Scanning in Healthcare
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scandit, the leading enterprise technology platform for mobile computer vision and augmented reality (AR), today announced that the Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK was used to add powerful scanning functionality to Epic’s Rover iOS app for nursing clinical workflows. This new functionality enables nurses to do barcode medication scanning using iPhone’s powerful built-in camera, without the need for an expensive, purpose-built device.
“The integration of Scandit with Epic Rover on iOS is a great next step in the adoption of our mobile computer vision platform and will improve patient care.”
Healthcare professionals increasingly rely on barcode scanning on mobile devices to error-proof critical processes, streamline workflows, and provide higher-quality care for patients. With Scandit’s barcode scanning, authorized clinical users of Epic’s electronic health record can use accurate, camera-based scanning on iOS.
By moving to software-based mobile barcode scanning, healthcare organizations are replacing costly dedicated scanners, and achieving significantly lower total cost of ownership. The cost savings can be used to roll-out scanning functionality to a far greater proportion of the workforce, which brings dramatic efficiency benefits and supports regulatory compliance.
“With our technology improving regular workflows, healthcare organizations can confidently expect significant time and cost savings,” said Samuel Mueller, CEO of Scandit. “The integration of Scandit with Epic Rover on iOS is a great next step in the adoption of our mobile computer vision platform and will improve patient care.”
Scandit did the work to seamlessly integrate the Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK for iOS as an Apple mobility partner. Apple is working with its mobility partners, a group of app developers and solution providers that are building business solutions for iOS, to change the way businesses work. Scandit is excited to be a part of this initiative and is delivering business transformation through enhanced mobile scanning.
