RFID For Pet Door Connects to Mobile App
CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Pet product specialist Sure Petcare today announced that the world's first-ever app-controlled pet door is now available in the United States - the Microchip Pet Door Connect. Used with the "Sure Petcare" app, the Microchip Pet Door Connect allows pet owners to control the pet door remotely from a smartphone or tablet, as well as monitor their pets' activity and habits.
The pet door utilizes microchip-reading technology meaning it only unlocks for the resident pet(s) microchip or RFID-collar tag, ensuring unwanted animals are kept out.
"Our aim is to develop great products that are useful, easy to understand and make life simpler for pet owners and their pets," said Dr. Nick Hill, Founder and CEO of Sure Petcare.
Jon Bowen, Royal Veterinary College veterinarian and animal behaviorist said, "Smart devices have enabled people to connect with family, friends, work, their surroundings 24/7. With people generally working longer hours and being away from home, they want to connect with their pets too.
"For me, the real value lies in the data and ability to log and track a pet's habits – something we've not been able to do until now. Over time, this information can provide an accurate insight into your pet's well-being and help you determine what is 'normal' behavior for your pet and what is not.
"The Microchip Pet Door Connect is a game changer and will become an essential part of maintaining a happy, healthy pet," said Bowen.
Designed for cats and small dogs, the Pet Door Connect wirelessly connects to the Hub, which in turn is connected to the home router, allowing pet owners to monitor and control when pets come and go via the Sure Petcare app on their smartphone. The app will allow pet owners to control and access an array of information about their pets' comings and goings.
The Microchip Pet Door Connect (MSRP $200, plus $65 for the Hub) is an advancement of the technology found in earlier Sure Petcare pet doors. The Pet Door Connect not only limits access to resident pets based on their unique microchip number or RFID collar tag ID, it will also allow pet owners to stay connected even when they are not at home.
Pet owners can enjoy the following features of the Sure Petcare Microchip Pet Door Connect and the Sure Petcare App:
- Receive notifications via the app when their pet leaves or enters the house.
- Log and track their pets' activity throughout the day. Historic data stored by the app can reveal changes in a pet's behavior or well-being.
- Remotely lock or unlock the pet door anytime, anywhere. Owners can also set a curfew to keep their pets indoors at specified times during the day.
- Share access to the app with friends, family or pet sitters and manage their permissions.
