FEIG Electronics Marks 50 Years of Innovation

FEIG ELECTRONICS, a leading global supplier of RFID readers and antennas, commemorated 50 years in business, a milestone that validates the dedication and innovation evident throughout the company’s long history. As a leading global supplier of RFID readers and antennas, FEIG is one of the few vendors offering LF, HF and UHF RFID readers to support all passive RFID standards, following a robust product development process.

Company founder Wolfgang Feig recalled the early years after starting his electronics business in December 1966, when he worked long hours by himself before hiring his first employee. "Technology was my hobby," Feig said. "At the time, I made myself independent with the business idea. I've always tried to minimize the risk."

Over time the company grew slowly. In 1981, the number of employees was only 13, whereas in 2017 FEIG now has 300 employees and global sales of 50 million Euros. Today, FEIG is a modern company with a large development team and an equally large number of customers.

The company recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a well-attended party, during which founder Feig highlighted the company’s outstanding achievements and praised his committed employees. He noted, “The success was made by selected employees, good friends, a family that holds together, the right partners and a bank with good nerves."

According to FEIG Managing Director Eldor Walk, the company is made up of four divisions: controllers, sensors, identification and payment. He noted that other companies look to FEIG to learn how processes can be optimized. "Research and development are of great importance to us," said Walk.

Executive Vice President Mike Hrabina represents FEIG’s U.S. operations in Atlanta. "Wolfgang Feig has created a life’s work that benefits us and many others," said Hrabina. “Over the past ten years, the number of employees has doubled and new buildings have been built, which is a sign of success. We are proud to be able to work for FEIG in the USA.”

"The spirit of inventor, perseverance and courage, coupled with social responsibility, make a successful entrepreneur. I am grateful to the fact that in my time as Mayor I knew an entrepreneur like the engineer Wolfgang Feig in our city," said Hans-Peter Schick, Mayor of Weilburg, Germany. "The personal encounters with Wolfgang Feig have always been a special experience, above all motivating. I am proud to know him.”
