Additive Aerospace Offers Updates on Insiders' Perspectives on Supply Chain Implications

Infocast’s Additive Aerospace Summit, set for October 18-20, 2017 in Los Angeles, California, will create opportunities for key players in the aerospace industry to connect with leading manufacturers, who are investing in new applications and the digital thread.

The benefits of additive manufacturing have been widely acknowledged for the past few years. However, the industry has already leapt past the phase of rapid prototyping, and is now actively engaged in the creation of end-use production parts. Aerospace and defense OEMs and their tier 1&2 suppliers are being challenged to verify that their production parts adhere to industry standards and are qualified to withstand the harshest environments and performance targets.

Critical issues that will be covered at the summit include cost-benefit analysis of large-scale printing, new application developments, bionic structures and topology optimization and the economics of additive manufacturing on-orbit.

The long list of Additive Aerospace participants includes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United States Navy, United States Air Force, NASA, Virgin Orbit, Boeing and Airbus.

Additionally, the Summit will include regulatory perspectives for certifications of additive manufacturing parts. Attendees will get insights from our keynote speaker Michael Gorelik, PhD, Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Fatigue and Damage Tolerance from the FAA.

“[The summit] is very informative and gives companies the chance to be in one place to talk about their research and opportunities,” said past attendee Tane Bogozian, NASA AMES Research Center.
