AIM North America Honors AIDC Industry Leaders

Winners Recognized at AIM Summit 2016 & RFID Journal LIVE!

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | May 12, 2016 | AIM North America (AIM NA), the industry association and authority on barcode, RFID, RAIN, RTLS, NFC, the Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile enterprise services and solutions, announced the recipients of the 2016 AIM North America Awards during two special events last week in Orlando, Florida. Each year, the AIM North America Awards honor individuals as well as organizations that not only promote the industry, but demonstrate significant contributions to enhanced and new technologies in automatic identification and data capture (AIDC).

This year the University of Memphis (UM) was honored as the 2016 AIM North America Business of the Year. This award is presented to an organization in recognition of outstanding contributions and service that have furthered the growth of the AIDC industry.

The Department of Engineering Technology, part of the Herff College of Engineering at UM, is well known for its support of the AIDC Teachers Institute, one of the premier educational facilities for academics who teach automatic identification at both the secondary and collegiate levels. In addition, the University also hosts the Automatic Identification Laboratory (AutoID), a state-of-the-art research lab positioned to promote the usage of all autoID technologies. As a respected and responsible leader, the University’s achievements certainly deserve special recognition.

Accepting the award on UM’s behalf at the AIM Summit 2016 Awards Luncheon was Kevin Berisso, PhD, an AIM member and former chair of AIM’s Internet of Things (IoT) Committee.

Steve Halliday, President of High Tech Aid, located in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, was selected as the 2016 AIM North America Professional of the Year. Mr. Halliday is an AIDC industry veteran with expertise in a wide variety of automatic identification technologies. He is involved in numerous industry organizations, including ISO, ANSI, and AIDC 100, in addition to his role as President of the RAIN RFID Alliance (RAIN), a global organization and industry alliance of AIM, Inc. which promotes the universal adoption of RAIN technology solutions across vertical markets.

Established in 2007, the AIM North America Professional of the Year is presented annually to an individual in recognition of innovative and exceptional contributions to the development of the AIDC industry through their work as a contributor, collaborator, or mentor.

Mr. Halliday was recognized and accepted the award at the AIM Industry Partnership Breakfast held during this year’s RFID Journal LIVE!
