HID Global Wins Industry Award for HID goID Platform for Mobile Driver’s Licenses

AUSTIN, Texas--()--HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, today announced that its new HID goID platform for mobile IDs won the 2016 Security Products Govies Award for User Authentication/Identification/Credentialing and Management. HID goID makes it possible to carry citizen IDs on smartphones, and it is an integral part of HID Global’s mobility initiative aimed at transforming the user experience for a more convenient, trusted and secure digital world.

“This award reaffirms the accelerating demand we are seeing from citizens and governments that want to use mobile IDs to simplify lives, empower users with more applications, and increase the level of trust in using a digital identity,” said Rob Haslam, Vice President and Managing Director, Government ID with HID Global. “HID Global is uniquely positioned to meet this demand with our HID goID platform, and we have a growing number of government agencies around the world currently looking at our solution.”

The HID goID platform for mobile IDs is the first to enable driver’s licenses and other citizen identification, including national ID cards and vehicle registration, to be carried on smartphones that can receive, present and authenticate mobile IDs. Powered by HID Global’s breakthrough Seos® technology, the HID goID platform enables instant over-the-air credential provisioning and streamlined access to cloud-based government information services. All transactions related to issuing, managing and presenting mobile IDs using smartphones are secure and trustworthy with HID goID that ensures transactions are conducted in a closed-circuit environment protected by end-to-end encryption.

The HID goID platform offers a number of benefits including preventing fraud, optimizing flexibility for online authentication if a citizen’s smartphone battery is dead, and enabling users to present credentials with a Bluetooth or NFC connection rather than physically relinquishing their smartphones. The platform also simplifies credential issuance and eliminates the need to stand in line for new cards and renewals by enabling over-the-air provisioning, renewals or change of data, such as address change.

An independent panel of judges from the security industry selected the top entries in the 2016 Govies Awards categories and named them winners using criteria, including Features, Innovation, User Friendliness, Interoperability, Quality, Design, Market Opportunity, and Impact in the Security Industry, Technical Advances, and Scalability. The award marks HID Global’s 20thaccolade received by solutions powered by its Seos® technology.
