Chui's Facial Recognition Technology Lets You Know Who is at Your Door

PRLog[1] - Aug. 12, 2014 - Chui – a startup that has made facial recognition available to consumers at an affordable price point for the first time – has been named one of 19 Semi-Finalists for the Cisco Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation Grand Challenge. Cisco’s global panel of experts selected only 19 IoT focused entries from a pool of over 800 international companies.  See Chui's Full Cisco IoT Entry Here[3].

According to Cisco's official annoucement[4], the IoT Challenge is “a global, open competition aimed at recognizing, promoting and accelerating the adoption of breakthrough technologies that will contribute to the growth and evolution of the Internet of Things.  The response was overwhelming with fantastic submissions.” A panel of Senior Cisco leaders will select six Finalists from the remaining field.  Members of the judging panel will be revealed and Finalists will be announced on September 18.  Finalists will attend the Internet of Things World Forum, an exclusive annual event that will be held in Chicago, October 14-16. There, three winners will be announced and share $250,000 in prize money intended to advance their leadership within the rapidly growing IoT industry.

Shaun Moore, Chui’s CEO and Co-Founder, expressed his gratitude stating, “My team and I are humbled to be among a cutting-edge group of Semi-Finalists.  We cannot thank Cisco enough for this opportunity.”  As for his plans going forward in the competition: “Our aim will be to showcase Chui's first product to market, an intelligent doorbell that uses facial recognition to make the front door a gateway to a connected home.”  According to Moore, his team also plans to highlight Chui’s multi-generational functions that include “more efficient and secure access control, membership management, hotel check-in, school attendance, and customer service.”

With Chui, our faces become secure, personalized and universal keys that unlock everything in the smart world. Forget keys, fobs, passwords, and other barriers. What good is the “Internet of Things” if consumers do not have simple and secure access to it? Chui makes your face your key. This simple solution is now accessible to everyone; Chui’s portfolio of proprietary technology has made facial recognition available to consumers at an affordable price point for the first time.

Chui's first product to market is an intelligent doorbell that uses facial recognition to make the front door a gateway to a connected home. Chui's technology can be proactively set to recognize individuals and perform tasks unique to them. Among other functions, Chui unlocks one’s front door and enables other connected home devices upon facial recognition.
