PRLog[1] - Jul. 22, 2014 - ATLANTA -- NexTraq®, a leading GPS fleet and asset tracking company, today announced that its client, Transtar Transportation, Inc., was able to recover $120,000 worth of stolen assets with the NexTraq GPS Fleet Tracking solution.

Transtar Transportation delivers Hankook tires throughout the western United States. Initially, the company implemented a fleet tracking solution to help monitor delivery progress, but soon realized unforeseen benefits when the NexTraq solution was able to help them track down 1,112 stolen tires.

Richard Sanchez, Operations Manager for Transtar Transportation, said, “On a Friday, we picked up a load of tires that was supposed to be delivered on Monday. That Monday morning, one of our drivers reported that somebody had been in the truck and the tires were gone.”

After being notified of the incident, Jay Shin, Owner of Transtar Transportation, immediately pulled up the NexTraq platform. Reviewing the truck’s activity, Shin noticed that it had been used after his driver reportedly parked it in the yard, and was driven 15 miles to an unauthorized location.

Sanchez had all of the GPS data sent to his phone via email and contacted the police. “When the police came, I opened my email to a picture of Google Maps with all of the red and blue markers showing where the vehicle had started and stopped.”

Using the information from the NexTraq system, the police were able to locate the facility where they found a partial load of the stolen tires.  After interrogating seven people, they found the rest of the tires the following day. “We were fully recovered with all 1,112 pieces,” said Sanchez. “Without the fleet tracking system, I would have been up in arms.”

Mike Scarbrough, President of NexTraq, said, “Theft is a huge concern for companies transporting expensive materials. The NexTraq Fleet Tracking solution helps companies protect their most valuable assets, so they can breathe easy and focus on business as usual.”

Transtar Transportation now recognizes the safety and security benefits that fleet tracking technology provides. Sanchez concludes, “We have complete peace of mind knowing where our assets and employees are at all times.”
