The AIDC industry mourns the passing of a long time leader.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our industry colleague and expert, Craig Harmon. Craig Kenneth Harmon, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids of a sudden heart attack.

Craig was instrumental in many bar code and RFID industry standards, leading the development of several international standards. He was the author of a definitive work on bar codes, “Reading Between The Lines”. He was also recognized for his work in the industry as the recipient of the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) Richard R. Dilling Award and as a member of the AIDC 100.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. There will be a private family funeral service on Thursday, July 10, 2014, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls. Editors note:  We are saddened to hear of the passing of Craig Harmon.  Craig had authored a number of articles for us over the years, on topics including barcode specifications and the Internet of Things.  He was truly dedicated to the success of the auto ID industry and will be missed.
