Eugene OR, USA (PRWEB) January 13, 2014

Datalogic, a global leader in the Automatic Data Capture market, employs industry leading technology in the development of bar code scanners, mobile computers and vision systems. Now Datalogic is happy to announce the availability of the Joya™ X1 Self-shopping mobile computer[1]. The Joya X1 device combines the knowledge and experience gained from all of its predecessors (the Joya and Joya A devices) with outstanding features and ergonomics.

"The retail marketplace is realizing rapid technological advances resulting in raised consumer shopping expectations throughout the multi-channel markets," stated Francesco Montanari, VP and GM of Datalogic Mobile Computers. "Datalogic is happy to offer the Joya X1 Self-shopping device that will enhance and positively impact the total shopping experience, building a strong base of customer loyalty for the retailers."

Self-shopping solutions allow the customer to enjoy and take charge of their shopping experience. Customers are able to access product pricing and information by scanning the item’s bar code using the Joya X1 device. Its leading-edge technology and advanced performance in an ergonomic form factor provides ease of use. Customers will have access to all previously scanned products and the ability to monitor up-to-date totals, additional store offers, promotions and discounts. The shopper is able to bag while scanning and shopping, avoiding long wait times often found in traditional checkout lines. Payment is easily accomplished by either handing the Joya X1device to a cashier to cash out, or visiting a self-service payment kiosk.

When lines become lengthy, the Joya X1 device may be used as a queue-busting solution, allowing a clerk to scan the items in a customer’s basket while they’re in line, drastically reducing the customer’s wait time in the line.

The Joya X1 device is able to implement Shopevolution software, Datalogic’s innovative self-shopping middleware, making shopping enjoyable, effortless and personalized for each customer.

Joya X1 can also work with other third party software applications. Datalogic offers the Joya SDK, allowing fast and easy development of custom applications.

This device uses aggressive 1D imaging technology, and has the ability to read coupon 1D bar codes from smartphone screens and ESL (Electronic Shelf Labels) The implementation of WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n wireless communications offer better performance, higher throughput, greater area coverage and a higher resistance to interference. Additional features include a 2.8" diagonal backlit color graphic display, Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ technology for good read feedback, USB and Wi-Fi connectivity, Microsoft® Windows CE, and Wavelink Avalanche® device management is available upon request.
