Mobio Uses Barcodes to Enhance Game-Day

Jaguars BarcodeInternational mobile payments and marketing company, Mobio, best-known for it's Mobio for iPhone app that uses patented security technology and open source 2D barcodes to allow consumers and businesses to transact anywhere a Mobio barcode can be displayed (print, TV or the web), has selected Jacksonville, Florida as a new market in its national launch for advanced smartphone technology. As part of its Jacksonville launch, the Jacksonville Jaguars have partnered with Mobio to enhance the game-day experience using barcodes. EverBank Field serves as the first NFL sporting venue launch of the smartphone barcode technology.

Mobio's partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars is multi-faceted. Most recently, Mobio tested its technology inside the stadium by offering guests in Touchdown Club East the option to order food and beverages from their seat. Mobio application users scan a QR barcode at their seat, a list of menu items is brought up on the smartphone, and the user selects and pays for their choice. The order is then delivered to the user at their seat. The goal is to expand this opportunity to all club seats at EverBank Field. Mobio also provides a barcode in the Jaguars' game-day program, which give fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey of their choice.

"Jacksonville is a perfect new market city for Mobio's smartphone technology. As a community of early adopters of technology, we anticipate both a good response from the consumer as well as great insight into their reaction to the technology," said Mark Binns, Chief Marketing Officer, Mobio Identity Systems. "Jacksonville is going to be on the cutting-edge of consumer and merchant relationships of the future."

Mobio offers a mobile application that runs on an expanding portfolio of smartphones. Mobio for Apple's iPhone, the company's flagship payment application, allows consumers to make payments while shopping online or in stores. Using QR barcodes, Mobio creates a random credit card number each time a user scans a Mobio barcode, providing a convenient and secure transaction for Mobio users.

"We are excited to partner with such an innovative and groundbreaking company," said Macky Weaver, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Jacksonville Jaguars. "We are always looking for new ways to enhance the game-day experience, and Mobio presents our fans convenient and secure technology to make their experience at EverBank Field more enjoyable."
