UPS Donates BarCodes to Aid in Haiti Relief
to the Salvation Army relief efforts in Port Au Prince to secure that food, water, and supplies get to the 4,000 families in makeshift shelters. Replacing an inefficient handwritten index card system, the laminate cards that families are now receiving contain a bar code that contains how many members in the family, the location of their campsite, and their specific needs. This UPS Trackpad technology was also used in the Katrina hurricane relief efforts for similar purposes in aiding disaster victims and keeping order in a time of chaos and despair.
