Custom Barcodes and RFID Technology Keep Nuclear Plants Secure

The company has been working with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to not only create new personnel ID cards with custom barcoding technology, but has implemented a new system to scan the cards as well. The system involves the use of both barcode and RFID to verify IDs in real-time working with “wireless portable data terminals and Zebra P640i card printers.” This newly upgraded solution will assist the NRC in their efforts to prevent identification tampering and risks of unauthorized personnel gaining access to nuclear plants.
